Rambuttri House – April 11-14, 2014
As a person used to DIY trips, I was very anxious about the hotels that Travel Factor booked for us. I know that most of the time we will be staying out and touring but where we will be staying afterwards is equally important to me. People I bring whenever I travel can attest to how meticulous I am when it comes to hotels/hostels/guesthouses. I am always in charge of searching for our accommodations and I always make sure that I get the best for very reasonable rates – Yiu Fai and River City Inn, to name a few.
So yeah, apologies to TF and Tikoy for the emails and phone calls. Haha! Ang kulit ko ba? We just wanted to see the hotels and the location so we can plan our free time well – transportation, shopping, meals :).

Here’s my short review of Rambuttri House, one of the four hotels we stayed in during our Indochina adventure.
Location:
Location wise, Rambuttri is situated in a very convenient road – Rambuttri, hence the name. There are many bars and restaurants offering different dishes, both traditional Thai and international cuisines. There are also a lot of small eateries at the corner of the road selling popular Thai street food like pad thai and pork bbq. Some carts are even moving around so there’s a big chance it will be in front of the hotel. There is a massage parlor, tailor shop, small eatery and travel company located at the lobby of the hotel.
It is also situated parallel to the famous Khao san road. It will only take you 2 minutes to reach Khao san just by passing a small alley (shortcut). Located in Khao san are more hotels, restaurants, bars, eateries, massage place and souvenir shops. There are convenient stores like 7-11 and fast food restos like mcdonalds and kfc. Everything you will need is just within easy access.

Transportation:
Traveling to different points of Bangkok from Rambuttri is easy. There are a lot of cabs and tuktuks passing by. If you walk towards the end of the road, there will be more cabs, tuktuks and even buses. The Phra Arthit station of the Chao Phraya river is also within walking distance so you can easily enjoy all modes of transportation available in Bangkok. However, if you plan on taking the MRT or BTS, you need to take a bus, tuktuk or cab first to the nearest station. Other than that, everything is well within your reach. :)

Amenities:
The amenities at Rambuttri are very basic – three beds, tv, aircon, bathroom and drawers. Though very minimal and simple, the interior of the whole place made this my second favorite hotel during the whole trip.
It has a vibe that is very homey and clean. The beds are very soft, though I wish they were not moving because I always find myself getting nearer and nearer to Kat :). The comforter is very warm however, I wish there’s an additional pillow. I need at least two pillows to sleep comfortably. Hehe.
The bathroom is clean and the faucet, bidet and shower are all working perfectly. It is quite spacious and it allowed us to do our laundry and hang some wet clothes inside.
The whole room is very spacious that we can move freely and place our luggage on the floor. We have a window as well and that allowed us to take a peek of our neighborhood, hang our wet clothes outside and take in the summer air.
(Note: We noticed that in BKK, SR, PP and HCM, the second floor is actually called the first floor. Kumbaga, first floor ng mga rented rooms nila. I will check Mr Google to enlighten me more. Hehe.)
There are some things I wish Rambuttri will add to the rooms – fridge (cold water is very nice for Bangkok’s hot weather), water heater for coffee (because we just love coffee in the morning) and more TV channels (days like Songkran when you have no choice at times but to stay inside, more channels can help ease the boredom away. :) ). Other than that, I am very satisfied with this hotel.

Staff Service:
The hotel staff are all very nice and accommodating. They helped us with our inquiries and were very pleasant all the time.
Room Rates:
I think the rooms rates are also very reasonable for this type of hotel considering its amenities, services and location. Just make sure to email or call the hotel to check the latest rates and promos especially if there will be an upcoming festival in Bangkok.
